Strengthening Website Security with Advanced Firewall Protection

At Jenkins Digital, we are committed to providing our clients and their customers with the highest level of website security. To further enhance protection across all our managed WordPress sites, we are implementing a new global firewall solution that leverages a shared IP blocking system.
This enhancement is being progressively rolled out to all client websites as a complimentary addition to our standard security regiment.
How It Works
The newly integrated firewall system operates globally, pooling data from a vast network of over 500000 websites to identify and block malicious traffic. When a harmful IP address is detected attacking one website, it will be added to a shared blocklist, preventing it from targeting other sites within the network.
This proactive approach significantly reduces the risk of brute force attacks, credential stuffing, and other automated threats that our customers encounter daily.
Key Benefits:
- Global Threat Intelligence: Automatic blocking of known malicious IPs based on collective data.
- Twice Daily Protection: Immediate defence against emerging threats, synchronization occurring every twelve hours.
- Reduced Server Load: Minimises unnecessary bot traffic, improving website performance.
- Enhanced Security Posture: Works alongside existing security measures for a comprehensive defence strategy.
Alongside the new firewall implementation, we continue to enforce our rigorous WordPress security hardening measures. We utilise a number of security enhancement methods, which include but are not limited to the following:
- Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): Strengthening user authentication to prevent unauthorised access.
- Automated Malware Scanning: Regular scans detect, report, and remove potential threats.
- User Agent Banning: Restricting malicious bot agents from accessing and attacking WordPress.
- 404 and Brute Force Locking: Detects malicious and abnormal user activity and blocks access by the offending IP address.
- SSL Encryption: Ensuring secure data transmission between our clients and their customers.
- Regular Security Patching: Keeping WordPress core, themes, and plugins up to date to mitigate vulnerabilities.
- Web Application Firewall (WAF): Filtering and monitoring traffic to block suspicious activity.
Implementation Timeline
The rollout of this enhanced firewall solution is underway and will be applied progressively across all Jenkins Digital-managed websites. Clients will experience improved security without needing to take any action.
At Jenkins Digital, we continuously evolve our security practices to stay ahead of emerging threats. With this new firewall technology and our proven security framework, we ensure that your WordPress website remains secure, optimised, and protected from cyber threats.
